CMS: What you need to know now

  • Some telehealth provisions may become permanent: CMS Administrator Seema Verma confirmed that the agency will explore telehealth services that could remain in effect after the COVID-19 public health emergency designation has lifted.
  • Nursing home toolkit: In May, CMS released a toolkit on state actions to mitigate the COVID-19 prevalence in nursing homes.
  • CMS issued another round of sweeping regulatory waivers and rule changes to deliver expanded care to the nation’s seniors and provide flexibility to the healthcare system as America reopens. For more details,
  • April 26, 2020, CMS will not accept any new applications for the Advance Payment Program, and will reevaluate all pending and new applications for Accelerated Payments in light of historical direct payments made available through HHS’s Provider Relief Fund.CMS delivered approximately $34 billion to healthcare providers through the Accelerated and Advance Payment Program in response to COVID-19.
